The Anatomy of a Song

From Mozart to Taylor Swift, the bones of a good song transcend time and genre.  Students will examine the science of a song and participate in song labs, applying what they’ve learned by creating original compositions.  


At the end of camp, students have the opportunity to share their compositions with family and friends at an information presentation and performance.



BEST FOR:

  • Middle and high school students that have 1-2 years of piano lessons under their belt
  • Teen musicians interested in creating music for gaming, film scoring or instrumental releases


EACH COMPOSITION 101 CLASS INCLUDES:

  • Study of melody, rhythm, harmony and chord progression
  • Study of song form and structure 
  • Song analysis
  • Study of theme and variation
  • Time spent collaborating and creating your own compositions
